Flood insurance cost by flood zone

What NFIP home policies cost in each FEMA flood zone, from 3,004,117 policies in force on August 31, 2026.

Your flood zone is the area on FEMA's Flood Insurance Rate Map where the building stands. Zones starting with A or V are high-risk areas (the "special flood hazard area"); zone X is moderate to low risk. Under Risk Rating 2.0 the zone is no longer the only price factor, but it still tracks the cost closely.

Zone guides

Zone definitions: FEMA FloodSmart, "What is my flood zone" and the FEMA data dictionary, checked on October 15, 2026.

This is what policyholders paid, not a quote. Two neighbors can pay very different prices: NFIP prices depend on the building (elevation, foundation, number of floors, replacement cost), the coverage and deductible chosen and the distance to water (FEMA FloodSmart: premium factors). For a price for your building, ask an insurance agent. Private flood insurance is not included in these figures.
